Lynn Bell is a member who represents health care providers in professional negligence actions, professional licensure and hospital privilege challenges, product manufacturers and distributors in product liability matters and general insurance defense. Attorney Bell has tried more than 115 cases to jury verdict. When the courtroom is not the best option, she utilizes alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, arbitration and other creative agreements to resolve matters.

She has an AV peer rating with Martindale Hubbell. In 2010, Attorney Bell was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers, an organization composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada. Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only to those trial attorneys who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standard. Every year since 2006, peers select her as a “Super Lawyer,” which designates the top five (5) percent of litigation attorneys in Pennsylvania. She is also a member of the Allegheny County Academy of Trial Lawyers. She is an invited member of the Litigation Counsel of America, a honorary society for attorneys. In 2023, she was selected to the AV Preeminent Attorney - Judicial Edition, the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards.

Attorney Bell has been an invited speaker at hospitals, medical societies and specialty practice groups and professional liability insurance carriers on malpractice, documentation, peer review, court decisions changing legal precedent and risk avoidance. She has also participated in seminars on trial tactics for attorneys and spoken to claims adjusters on suspected insurance fraud and bad faith. In 2015 she was the keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.

Representative Cases

  • 117 patients filed suit against two cardiologists after a hospital issued a letter to 192 patients advising them they may have had an unnecessary stent placed. The bellwether case selected by the plaintiffs was tried in April 2017 resulting in a defense verdict, upheld an appeal.
  • Stent Trial verdict as reported by the local paper.
    The verdict was affirmed by the Pennsylvania Superior Court.

Defense Verdicts:

Obtained a defense verdict in Centre County matter where parents alleged a delay in diagnosis of a necrotic bowel in a two day infant resulting in short gut syndrome. Past medical bills were $416,000, future medical bills were $73,000,000.

Obtained a defense verdict for a Breastfeeding Center where it was alleged the physicians failed to diagnose breast cancer. The case was tried, a defense verdict obtained, reversed on appeal and retried in a month long proceeding, resulting in a second defense verdict.

Successfully tried a Will contest against a priest who wrongfully influenced a parishioner.
